Material Handling Engineer Mechanical – Stavanger
Introduction
Location: Stavanger
Duration: August 2025 – 31.12.2027
Function
- Design and optimize material handling systems (manual and automated), including conveyors, storage systems, Automated Guided Vehicle (AGVs), cranes, and packaging stations.
- Develop layouts and detailed engineering drawings using CAD tools.
- Analyze workflows and logistics data to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.
- Specify and evaluate material handling equipment and vendors based on performance, cost, and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, logistics, and maintenance.
- Lead or support the implementation of material handling projects, from concept through commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and internal standards. Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, and risk assessments for proposed systems.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to material handling performance.
- Create detailed material handling reports
Key Deliverables:
- Detailed material flow and equipment layout designs
- Equipment specifications and procurement packages
- Technical reports and cost/benefit analyses
- Implementation plans and commissioning documentation
- Updated SOPs and maintenance guidelines
- Project status reports and risk assessments
- Operational improvement metrics (e.g., throughput, downtime reduction)
- Material handling reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
- Min 3 years of experience in material handling system design and implementation
- Knowledge of Danish legislation and offshore regulations is an advantage.
- Familiarity with DNV standards is highly valued, but not an absolute requirement.
- Experience with EPC and EPCIC project models and supplier follow-up across engineering and execution phases.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines and vendors.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Danish language skills are a plus.

- Education Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
- Experience Min 3 years of experience as material handling engineer within energy or oil & gas projects
- Software MS OFFICE (typical Excel,Word) 3D modelling/CAD
