Senior Expert Geophysics – Stavanger

Function

Join our costumers dynamic Subsurface team as a Geophysicist. You will play a crucial role in the detailed evaluation and analysis of newly acquired multi-azimuth 3D seismic data, including seismic inversion products. Your expertise will contribute to the development of static and dynamic models, the planning of horizontal HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) wells, and the maturation of upside potential. You will collaborate closely with other subsurface disciplines, Well Engineering, and the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop HPHT horizontal wells
  • Conduct risk assessments for HPHT wells
  • Evaluate multi-azimuth 3D seismic data and inversion products
  • Provide input to static and dynamic models
  • Gather, validate, and interpret geological, well, and seismic data
  • Interpret and integrate geological and seismic data using modern techniques
  • Assess upside potential for future drilling
  • Perform volumetric and risk estimation of prospects and leads
  • Conduct depth conversion studies 
  • Coordinate team activities
  • Mentor junior staff according to the agreed plan
  • Ensure health, safety, security, and environmental protection at the workplace
  • Participate in HSSE training according to competency maps
  • Promote HSSE integration into the company culture

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Geoscience
  • Relevant Professional Experience: Minimum 8-10 years
  • Proficient in geological sub-disciplines (e.g., structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, petroleum source geochemistry, basin modeling, petrophysics, reservoir characterization, play fairway analysis)
  • Strong understanding of geophysical methods, especially seismic technologies, attribute analysis, reservoir geophysics, and reservoir modeling
  • Skilled in seismic mapping, interpretation, and depth conversion
  • Expertise in volumetrics and risk assessment
  • Proficient in subsurface mapping, well correlation, and cross-section construction
  • Understanding of drilling and testing/production technology, and skilled in wireline log data and formation evaluation
  • Business awareness o Excellent communication and presentation skills

Other Requirements:

  • Self-driven, positive, and committed attitude; highly organized
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written
  • Good knowledge of English and preferably Norwegian
  • Proactively seek advice from others and share own experiences
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Close attention to detail
