Function
Working as part of Company’s Major Projects Department, and reporting to the Project Controls Manager – Major Projects, this position shall steward and administer the Project Risk and Change Management processes across a portfolio of projects. This position will have extensive interface with various stakeholders, including members of multiple Project Management Teams, members of the Major Projects Management Team and various functional departments.
The duties and job functions of the Project Controls – Change Management shall include, but are not
limited to, the following:
• Aid Project Managers in the successful management and control of their projects.
• Administering the Major Projects Risk Management and Change Management processes, in accordance with the Major Projects Risk Management and Change Management Strategies.
• Maintain the departmental risk and change management registers.
• Participating in, and facilitating as necessary, project specific, as well as departmental risk review meetings and change management meetings.
• Participate in Change Control Committee meetings.
• Assist Project Managers and other members of the Project Management Team, in identifying, assessing and managing risk items.
• Assist Project Managers, and other members of the Project Management Team, in preparing, routing and processing of Change Management documentation.
• Interface with various functional groups to help identify primary and secondary impacts of change.
• Review, update and create, where necessary, applicable documents, forms and registers used for the management of risk and change.
• Lead and administer the implementation of risk and change modules, if selected for implementation, of an integrated project controls management system.
• Assist in the development of reporting mechanisms and tools, for reporting at all levels from Project Management to Executive.
• Assist with conducting Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analyses, as required.
• Analysis of project and contract control deliverables for compliance with expectations, to ensure completeness of content and provide meaningful feedback to the Project Management Team.
• Assist the Project Management Team with preparation for Decision Gates, Board Reviews, Project Sanctions or other key project decision points, as required.
• Actively participate in training and knowledge transfer of Project Controls (in general) and Risk and Change Management (in particular) concepts, processes and systems, to other members of the Project Management and Project Controls teams.
• Be available and participate in any required regulatory reviews, technical sessions or hearings for Major Project applications.
• Proactive support of a safety culture where “Nobody Gets Hurt.”
Requirements
• 10+ years experience in Change Management or Risk. Preference for candidate with demonstrated experience in both speciality areas. Experience on larger capital projects or programmes preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to mentor others.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience in working on capital projects.
• A strong safety, inclusion and continuous improvement mindset.
• Experience in the development and production of written documentation, including guidance documentation.
• Experience in developing and using various reporting systems, structures and mechanisms for various stakeholders ranging from project managers to executives.
• Familiarity with the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) Recommended Practices.
• Experienced in leading risk and change management meetings.
• Experience with tools used to perform and evaluate probabilistic analyses of cost and schedule risks would be an asset.
• The ability to read, interpret and understand contracts and technical documentation.
