Function

This position will focus on enhancing maintenance processes, improving data accuracy, and driving improvements in work execution, planning, and scheduling. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of  preventative maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of electrical utility assets, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The Lead Support will assist in improving asset performance data collection and analysis, helping to identify trends 
and optimize asset management strategies. Additionally, the role will support the planning and  scheduling of maintenance work, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently, and that work execution aligns with asset performance goals. The Lead Support will collaborate with cross functional teams to drive continuous improvements in asset management practices and contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and track the effectiveness of all regional preventative maintenance programs through increased operational visibility and ongoing asset management requirements.
  • Support the gathering, analysis, and reporting of asset performance and maintenance  data to identify trends, failures, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Identify opportunities and provide asset management guidance to enhance the scope  and frequency of preventative maintenance activities based on asset performance data.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve data quality, ensure accurate asset tracking, and  integrate data from various systems (CMMS, SCADA, etc.).
  • Help implement tools and systems that improve data accuracy, accessibility, and  reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with the organization’s asset  management and performance optimization goals.
  • Support the development of work plans and schedules, ensuring that maintenance tasks  are prioritized based on asset criticality and operational needs/priorities.
  • Assist in optimizing resource allocation, reducing scheduling conflicts, and minimizing  downtime during planned maintenance.
  • Collaborate with planning teams to improve the overall efficiency of maintenance  scheduling processes, annual work plans and integrated annual works plans.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements that  enhance asset management, maintenance efficiency, and overall asset performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to promote consistent practices in asset performance  and optimization strategies.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending new tools, technologies, and methodologies to  improve maintenance and scheduling processes.
  • Document lessons learned and process improvements to support continuous learning  and development within the team.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, finance and  IT to ensure alignment on maintenance goals and strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on work execution,  scheduling improvements, and data analysis findings.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training materials to enhance team knowledge  on preventative maintenance, data collection, and industry standard scheduling  practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to staff to help them effectively implement asset management  processes and tools.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must have a Professional Engineer Degree or be an experienced  Engineering Technologist holding a Maintenance Management Professional Certification. 
  • Familiarity with developing, implementing, and monitoring preventative maintenance programs specifically within electrical utility assets (generation, transmission, and distribution systems).
  • Hands-on experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and  SCADA systems, including data integration, data tracking, and optimization of these systems.
  • A  working knowledge of JD Edwards would be considered a significant asset. 
  • In depth understanding of annual work planning strategies and the integration of maintenance  schedules into broader operational planning and outage coordination.
  • Experience in developing work  plans, scheduling tasks based on asset criticality and ensuring a risk-based approach to overall planning  strategies.
  • A working knowledge of Primavera P6 would be considered a significant asset.
